Huge Blow to the St Louis Blues Ahead of Game One
The St Louis Blues announced forward David Perron has been added to the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list. The Blues leading scorer could miss Game 1 of the Stanley Cup First Round on Monday.
It's unknown at this time while they complete some more tracing and testing if Perron will be available for when the Blues take on the Colorado Avalanche. They are certainly going to need Perron in the lineup, he's a huge part of their offense. He scored 58 points this season including 16 points in the final 11 regular season games. Pretty crazy stat here - Perron was the first Blues player to average a point-per-game since 2002-03.
The Blues forward had this to say about matching up against the Avalanche:
We played them well at times this year, and the other times, they put it in the back of our net quite easily if we don't do the right things. There's going to be a lot more intensity, a lot more details that are required to have success. We know what kind of firepower they have over there. Also being disciplined. Our power play's been coming around more and more as the year's gone on, but we also know how good they are on their side and we'll have to be really sharp.
The Blues also announced Nathan Walker and Jake Walman are two other names on the protocol list and unavailable at this time. It's all going to come down to Monday's news as Blues fans wait this out to see if their team will have all their talent available for game one.
