Mark Messier Calls Out the New York Rangers
Mark Messier is a New York Rangers great and on Wednesday he wasn't trying to make any friends as he had some choice words for the current roster. 'Moose' thinks this current team lacks toughness and apparently this is required to 'win in the street'.
Well, it's a good thing they play hockey on-ice in an arena or the team would be really screwed, but regardless Messier isn't impressed with how the Rangers roster has shaped up:
In my opinion, if you're going to win, you got to be able to win in the street and the alley. I, particularly, would not have built the team that didn't have answers in this regard. I've made it very clear that I've been standing by ready to help out in any way for many years. I don't really know what else to say.
Hard to say if that was a chirp to the fired John Davidson and Jeff Gorton or more so a cry out for a job with the team. Could be a little bit of both. Messier has been waiting patiently for a role with the organization for years and maybe he sees this time of transition as the perfect opportunity to get his foot back in the door.
