Matthew Tkachuk and the Calgary Flames Have Become Edmonton Oilers Fans
Life comes at you fast and nobody knows this more than Matthew Tkachuk of the Calgary Flames. The league-wide pest is now sitting back, hoping and praying the Edmonton Oilers can win some hockey games in regulation. The Oilers are slated to take on the Montreal Canadiens on Monday and Wednesday this week and if the Flames want to make the playoffs, they need the Oilers help.
While the Flames sit back and hope Connor McDavid dominates two more hockey games this season, they also have to take care of business, which comes on Thursday night against the Vancouver Canucks. The Flames took care of step one on Sunday night as they defeated the Ottawa Senators 5-1. Here's what Tkachuk had to say after the game:
We just have to win and pray. That's all we can do tomorrow. Never thought we'd root for Edmonton but we need them to win these.
Hearing that Tkachuk is an Oilers fan now is one of the most ironic things of this NHL season. Meanwhile, leave it up to his coach Darryl Sutter to make things awkward. Never change, Darryl.
