Ottawa Senators Lock Up Defenseman for Two More Seasons
The Ottawa Senators have announced they have decided to re-sign defenseman Artem Zub to a two-year contract extension worth a total of $5 million.
Pierre Dorion says Artem Zub "brought stability" to the #sens blue line. That earned him the two-year extension at $2.5M AAV.

Zub was originally brought into Ottawa on a one-year deal and the 25-year-old has done nothing but impress the coaching staff and management. He recently spent six seasons in the KHL and it showed, he was poised with the puck and able to make the right-decisions under pressure. His two-way skills continue to develop and the Senators hope he can make more of an impact on the score sheet next season.
Zub recorded three goals and 11 assists in 47 appearances this season and averaged over 18 minutes of ice-time a night. He was a key contributor to the penalty kill, however as mentioned, the team thinks his upside offensively is worthy of a further look.
Congrats to Artem Zub on his new deal!
