Toronto Maple Leafs Hosting Healthcare Workers for Game 7
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Ontario government have announced the team will be hosting 550 fully vaccinated health care workers for Game 7 Monday night against the Montreal Canadiens.
This comes after Game 6 in Montreal, where 2500 people were able to attend. Premier Doug Ford had this to say on the matter:
Every single day our healthcare workers put their lives on the line to help others. This small token of appreciation doesn't measure up to the sacrifices they've made during COVID-19, but it is an opportunity for us to recognize their heroic efforts to keep each and every one of us safe.
MLSE is also covering the cost of the ticket and giving each healthcare worker a free jersey. The news comes as a touch of a surprise as the team got their plan rejected on Sunday night and now on Monday it's been approved. Regardless, it's a great gesture and a giant step forward for the province of Ontario. Also worth noting is captain John Tavares took part in the morning skate and is listed as a game-time decision.
