The 26-year-old forward is fresh off a championship season in the KHL where he got better as the year went on. Semyonov played 60 regular season games for the Avangard Omsk where he tallied 10 goals and 26 points. He then went on to score nine more points in 23 playoff games. In his KHL career, Semyonov has played 377 games, scoring 70 times and collecting 169 points.
The Leafs are a cap crunched team so these type of cheap entry-level contracts are what's going to get them by the next few seasons. They need to find lightning in a bottle and hope they European scouts come through with some high-end talent who reaches their potential.
