Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Swedish Goaltender

While the current Toronto Maple Leafs roster gears up for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, general manager Kyle Dubas took care of some other business on Wednesday as the team signed netminder Erik Kallgren.

The 24-year-old Swede just helped guide his SHL team to a league championship after going 7-3-0 in the postseason with a 1.74GAA and a .930 save%. This coming after a regular season which saw Kallgren post a 12-9-0 record with a 2.37GAA and a .911 save%.

It's a two-year two-way contract for the once Arizona Coyotes draft pick. He doesn't bode a ton of professional experience but the Leafs feel he can provide the AHL team with some depth next season and at 24, perhaps find another level to his career.
