VIDEO: Kelly Hrudey Blasted Capitals Goaltender for Getting Injured
The Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins matched up for game one of the playoffs on Saturday night and the story of the game was Caps goaltender Vitek Vanecek. The rookie goaltender left in the first period after suffering what appeared to be a lower-body injury and boy did he ever get blasted on the Canadian broadcast.
Ex-NHL goalie turned hockey panelist Kelly Hrudey called out Vanecek for not stretching enough before the game and not being a 'good pro'. He went on a rant that has turned heads and made everyone check for receipts on Hrudey from decades ago.
39-year-old veteran Craig Anderson replaced Vanecek and helped lead the Capitals to a game one victory in overtime. Anderson appeared in four games this regular season and hasn't played in the playoffs in four years.
As for Hrudey, take a listen to this and enjoy the bantering after:
this kelly hrudey rant just seems so fucking pointless

blaming "not stretching enough" is just silly pic.twitter.com/Q9Clil0P6p

@KellyHrudey and his take on last nights injury to Washington’s goalie was disgusting and distasteful. Shaming a player for getting injured is blasphemous! #HockeyTwitter

I don’t know why Kelly Hrudey is ripping Vanecek for getting injured. Saying “you gotta be a better pro” for a goalie pulling a muscle is a brutal take. Saying he needed to stretch more as if that would 100% eliminate all possibility of getting injured...

Hey @kellyhrudey I heard you missed 14 games in 1990 with mono. As a pro, you shouldn’t have been kissing people that have mono. You’re a professional. So do less kissing and more playing hockey

Kelly Hrudey let his team down with this one. Any NHL goalie should know better than to take a puck to the groin pic.twitter.com/2TwGAhDlNO
