Video: Maple Leafs John Tavares Knocked Out, Stretchered Off in Game 1
Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares had to be stretchered off the ice during the first period of Game 1 on Thursday night in what was a horrible scene. Tavares was tripped up and hit in the face by Montreal Canadiens forward Corey Perry's leg, knocking him out cold.
The already quiet arena sounded eerily silent. Be warned this isn't a highlight for everyone. Tavares is a man of dedication and character and you could see it in him, trying to get up when really he shouldn't. The trainers and medical staff had to start yelling at him to 'Stay Down', as he tried to sit up. The thumbs up at the end by Tavares is the best moment.
