2 Possible Destinations for David Krejci if Boston Lets Him Walk

The Boston Bruins have many pending unrestricted free agents. Tuukka Rask and Taylor Hall are two big names that come to mind, but David Krejci is also very important to them as well. The 35-year-old has spent the entirety of his career with the Bruins, while being a very productive second-line center for them.

Krejci has stated that he does not see himself playing elsewhere, but also has hinted about going back to the Czech Republic. However, the off-season does bring upon sudden changes, so he could very well end up on another NHL team, too. If the Bruins elect to not bring him back, he could look to win one more Stanley Cup elsewhere.

These two teams could benefit from his services.

Montreal Canadiens

This would be interesting from the very start. With Krejci being a career Bruin, it certainly would not sit well with Boston fans if he signed there. However, the Canadiens are showing the league that they are capable of being contenders this postseason. Adding a gifted playmaker to their center depth would be a very promising move. He also could be a great option to help mentor Nick Suzuki and Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

Furthermore, the Canadiens may lose Phillip Danault and/or Eric Staal via free agency. Krejci would be a good replacement on a short-term deal, as his 44 points in 51 games this season shows he still is quite effective offensively.

Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild are another team that exceeded their original expectations. They were one win away from knocking out the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round. Yet, even after a very impressive season, they need to strengthen their center group to improve even more. Krejci could be the perfect candidate to make this happen.

The Wild need to successfully extend Kirill Kaprizov for a Krejci signing to reach its full potential, though. Having an elite scorer like Kaprizov playing with a pass-first center in Krejci would lead to a lot of offense. If Krejci hits the open market and decides to stay in North America, the Wild really could be the perfect match for him.
