2 Teams Who Should Sign Mike Hoffman This Summer
Mike Hoffman is a very interesting player going into this off-season. After spending this year with the St. Louis Blues, it is likely that he will be a free agent yet again. In 52 games this season, the veteran forward scored 17 goals and registered 36 points. Those numbers are certainly solid, but he did not fit very well with the team's system. He even was healthy scratched, which may be hard to believe with a player of his skill level.
Nonetheless, the sniper should still have a lot of teams interested in his services this summer. He has shown in the past that he can be a real game-changer. He also is a prime candidate to sign on a short-term deal, as he is a bit older. Teams that are more offensively driven would benefit the most from signing Hoffman, though.
These two specific franchises should be working diligently to sign Hoffman this summer.
Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers need some serious help when it comes to the left wing. This position was already weak this season, but if Ryan Nugent-Hopkins signs elsewhere, it will be even worse. Regardless of what happens on that front, they should sign Hoffman.
Hoffman is a sniper who has the ability to score a lot of goals when playing with the right players. Playing on a line Connor McDavid would help him significantly, as McDavid is the best player in the league. Furthermore, he would also help their power play with his offensive talent.
Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers had a very strong regular season and fans should be optimistic. Yet, to progress even more, they should look to bring in a winger this off-season. This would provide more balance with their offensive group. Hoffman could be a fun addition, as he is a familiar face who had a lot of success with the franchise previously.
In fact, Hoffman had his best seasons from a statistical standpoint during his days in Florida. He could slot perfectly in their top-six, while also being a welcomed upgrade to the power play. With the team already knowing he is a fit, they could even sign him for an extra year or two.
