2 Teams Who Should Trade For Jake DeBrusk

It is clear that Jake DeBrusk is not working out in Boston. He has been the subject of trade rumors for the last few months, so one has to assume that a deal is on its way. He has not been utilized well in Boston and even was healthy scratched on multiple occasions by head coach Bruce Cassidy.

In 41 games this season, DeBrusk only scored five goals and registered 14 points. Those numbers are far lower than his three previous seasons with the team. He also spent a great deal of the season at right wing, which just does mesh well with his game. Thus, it may be best for both parties to move on. With DeBrusk showing past success and being just 24-years-old, there is hope that he can turn it around.

These two teams should be aggressive in pursuing him this summer because of that.

Edmonton Oilers

Although the Edmonton Oilers just agreed to an 8-year extension with Ryan-Nugent Hopkins, there is still more work to be done at left wing. With DeBrusk being from Edmonton, this could be the perfect match. Not only would he be playing for his childhood team, but he would also have Connor McDavid or Leon Drasaitl as his potential center.

With this, his offensive numbers could jump right back up to where they once were. The Oilers do have some money to work with as well, so they can easily afford DeBrusk's $3.675 million cap hit.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes also have a good amount of cap space to work with this off-season. They are likely to lose both Jordan Martinook and Warren Foegele this summer, so they will need wingers. DeBrusk could be a great acquisition, as he would fit nicely on their second line.

The Hurricanes are looking to build on a very strong regular season. If DeBrusk turns back into the 27-goal scorer he was just two years ago, that would absolutely be a step in the right direction for them.
