3 Potential Trade Destinations for Blue Jackets' Seth Jones

The Columbus Blue Jackets have some big decisions to make as it was announced late last week that star defenseman Seth Jones plans on heading to free agency after next season. While it's not expected the Blue Jackets will wait that long, expectation is Jones will be traded this summer to maximize the return for Columbus.

3 Teams Who Are Likely Making Offers for Seth Jones

Edmonton Oilers: The Oilers are a team to look out for as general manager Ken Holland wants to make a splash this offseason and upgrade his hockey club. It's worth noting Jones has a 10-team no-trade list, however with his brother on the Oilers, there's a good chance he would accept a deal. The Blue Jackets want a top-line center for Jones, would a sign-and-trade for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins be enough?

Chicago Blackhawks: The Blackhawks have some cap space with LTIR being used up and are looking to add a stud to their defense. Would a Kirby Dach for Jones deal make sense for both teams? That's all going to come down to Jonathan Toews' health and what other options present themselves, like potentially signing either Dougie Hamilton or Tyson Barrie. Regardless, Dach is someone who should be on the Blue Jackets wish list.

St Louis Blues: The Blues are a team to watch as they have some interesting pieces both up front and on defense that could interest the Blue Jackets. Columbus isn't looking to rebuild anytime soon and will want NHL ready talent in any trade. Perhaps Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou or Colton Parayko would interest the Blue Jackets?

The Seth Jones sweepstakes have begun, and it's going to be a very interesting summer tracking the trade noise. One thing we do know, don't expect to see Jones traded for Ryan Johansen straight up this time around.
