Arizona Coyotes and Boston Bruins Could Pull Off Trade of the Summer
The Arizona Coyotes and Boston Bruins were close to a mega-deal last season that would have saw long-time Coyote Oliver Ekman-Larsson being dealt to bean town. The trade never finalized and OEL played out another year struggling in Arizona. This summer is a bit different as the player is more receptive about the potential of other teams, which could entice the Bruins to go all-in for not only Ekman-Larsson but also Coyotes forward Conor Garland.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, these two teams could be setting themselves up for quite the trade:
The Boston Bruins may revisit trade talks on Arizona Coyotes captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The bigger question: Could a potential package include winger and Boston native Conor Garland? The Bruins are believed to have interest in both.
We know that Boston was one of Ekman-Larsson’s two desired locations last offseason. Talks came down to the wire of a deadline set by the Ekman-Larsson camp for new GM Bill Armstrong to pull the trigger, but fell short.
The big issue then – and one that remains to be seen – is how much money Arizona is willing to retain on Ekman-Larsson’s deal. He has a whopping six years remaining at $8.25 million AAV per season with nearly $50 million in real cash to be paid
Like most deals it's going to come down to dollar and cents, and depending on how much the Coyotes are willing to eat of OEL's salary, there could be some other teams involved in the sweepstakes. Keep an eye on the desert, the Coyotes are expected to make some major changes this summer.
