Blockbuster Rumor: Matthew Tkachuk Wants Out of Calgary, Prefers St Louis
The St Louis Blues and Calgary Flames could be a match made in heaven this offseason as both teams are looking to make changes to their forward groups. It's being reported by Shane O'Brien on the Power Play podcast that Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk wants out of Calgary and prefers to be traded to the St Louis Blues.
This could line itself up for a blockbuster deal and the Flames could target Vladimir Tarasenko and Vince Dunn in the deal. As Tkachuk is six years younger and making less money next season, there's no doubt the Blues would need to ante up more than a declining sniper and a depth defenseman. The Flames would likely ask the Blues to include a first-round pick or a prospect.
It makes a ton of sense for Tkachuk to want to play in St Louis considering his father Keith's legacy there and the fact his family still lives in the area. As for Tarasenko, he's been rumored to the Flames now, along with the Washington Capitals, as it feels like his time is coming to an end in St Louis.
Keep an eye on this trade as more information is expected to surface this week on Tkachuk's preference.
