Blue Jackets Max Domi Undergoes Surgery
The Columbus Blue Jackets will start next season without forward Max Domi who underwent shoulder surgery and is expected to be sidelined for 5-6 months.
The surgery is going to help repair a labral tear of Domi's right shoulder, something he's dealt with and played through, and finally getting fixed. His general manager spoke to the media about Domi's season in Columbus and had this to say:
Max had been experiencing some discomfort in his shoulder, which he brought to our attention last week and a subsequent examination revealed a labral tear. It was determined that surgery was the best course of action and we look forward to Max’s return early next season
Domi's first season as a Blue Jacket didn't go as planned and he's hoping becoming fully healthy can jump start year two. Last season the 26-year-old managed to score nine goals and added 15 assists in 54 games. There was often times Domi and then head coach John Tortorella would bump heads and even be benched at times, so knowing it will be a new voice behind the bench should surely motivate him. Next season is a contract year so expect Domi to come out flying and be looking to secure himself a hefty long-term extension. For now it's time to rehab his shoulder.
