The former second overall pick is still only 21 years old and is an impact player for the 'Canes. Last season he recorded 42 points in 55 games after 61 in 68 games the previous season as a 19/20 year old. It's obvious he's going to be a star and now the Hurricanes are going to be paying him like one from the sounds of it.
'Svech' has also managed to step up when it matters most as he's tallied 20 points in 26 playoff games and to be almost at a point a game pace in the playoffs, at his age, is something special. The Hurricanes got themselves a good one, it makes sense to keep him around as long as possible.
