Chicago Blackhawks Trying to Acquire Elite Defenseman
The Chicago Blackhawks are trying to make some major upgrades to their roster this offseason and general manager Stan Bowman has made it known to other teams, he's looking for an elite defenseman.
TSN's Darren Dreger spoke about the Blackhawks' intentions, and had this to say about an upcoming deal:
I do know that (general manager) Stan Bowman and the Blackhawks are trying to add an elite-level defenseman - TSN's Darren Dreger reported on Tuesday's edition of "Insider Trading.
While Seth Jones of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Dougie Hamilton of the Carolina Hurricanes are on the team's radar, it's unknown at this time if they are at the top of Bowman's list. Considering the team lost Brent Seabrook, there are a ton of minutes to get eaten up on the team's right-side, so those two names make a ton of sense.
Along with Hamilton and Jones, the Hawks could have interest in signing one of Tyson Barrie, Alec Martinez, Adam Larsson, or Jamie Oleksiak. But if they want elite talent, it's going to have to come via trade. Perhaps they get Hamilton to agree to a contract extension and pull off a trade with the Hurricanes before free agency begins? Keep an eye on NHLTR as we'll bring you all the latest.
