It's not often a team trades their 24-year-old captain in the prime of his career, but unfortunately for Sabres fans that's what it's come to for management. The trade is going to be a blockbuster and Buffalo is expected to be after high draft-picks and top prospects as they will be smashing the 'rebuild' button this offseason.
Along with Eichel the team is expected to trade Sam Reinhart and Rasmus Ristolainen. They've also recently won the NHL draft lottery and will be adding a #1 overall pick. As for Eichel, teams with the most interest appear to be the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, LA Kings and Chicago Blackhawks. First things first he and the Sabres need to agree on a medical procedure, then management can turn their focus to making a deal.
