Marc-Andre Fleury Selected As Vezina Trophy Winner

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been named this season's Vezina Trophy winner. This is Fleury's first-ever Vezina win. He led the Knights to a second-place finish in the league, with a 26-10-0 record, a 1.98 GAA, a .928 sv%, posting 6 shutouts. Fleury was not pulled once all season.

Fleury's future in Vegas was in question no less than 10 months ago when the Knights signed goaltender Robin Lehner to a 5-year extension. There was some drama online involving Fleury's agent, and rumors around the league that Vegas had offered the older netminder to every team in the NHL, going so far as to ask for next to nothing in return for taking the goalie's contract off of their books. Yet when that proved unsuccessful, Vegas decided to run it back with their tandem.

When Robin Lehner went down with a concussion less than a month into this season, Fleury took over the starter's net, going 12-5-0 in his partner's absence and posting 3 shutouts. Fleury held on to the net through the rest of the season and into the playoffs, playing 16 of Vegas' 18 playoff games and leading them through to the semi-finals, where they lost to the Montreal Canadians in 6 games. Fleury can add this Trophy win to his Jennings Trophy win this year. Oh, and also his three Stanley Cup rings. Stick taps for MAF!
