Rod Brind'Amour Wins Jack Adams Award
It's been quite the week for Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour. Days after signing a new contract extension to stay with the team, he's now won the Jack Adams award as the NHL's coach of the year.
'Rod the Bod' beat out Minnesota Wild head coach Dean Evason and Florida Panthers coach Joel Quenneville. He led the 'Canes to a 36-12-8 record and his team won the Central Division crown. They have now made the playoffs three straight seasons after not making the postseason nine straight years before Brind'Amour showed up to change the culture.
Carolina's coach is beloved by the team and he's become one of the best leaders in sports. Brind'Amour earned 61 of 129 (47%) first-place votes to claim the award. The Jack Adams award is voted on by the NHL Broadcasters' Association.
