Rumor: New York Rangers to Offer Head Coaching Job
The New York Rangers are expected to make a formal offer to Gerard Gallant in the coming days for their head coaching position and word is he's very likely to accept.
Gallant, the former coach of the Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers has quickly become the hottest name of the market after leading Team Canada to a World Championship. The native of Prince Edward Island helped get the team in order after losing their first three games and did so in impressive fashion.
The 2018 Jack Adams award winner for coach of the year has long been rumored to be tied to a few different teams and it looks like the Rangers may be outbidding the Seattle Kraken.
Dreger on TSN1050: "I'd be gobsmacked if Gerard Gallant is offered a deal by the New York Rangers and didn't take it." #NYR

The Rangers are going to have a big overhaul this offseason as ownership was not happy with the direction of the team. With Chris Drury now the main man in the Big Apple, expect at least one or two considerable trades and a brand new bench boss leading the charge.
