Rumor: Seth Jones to be Traded to the Philadelphia Flyers
The Seth Jones sweepstakes are off and running as multiple hockey insiders have confirmed the Columbus Blue Jackets have received a ton of interest in their defenseman. One team in particular who makes a ton of sense - the Philadelphia Flyers.
As Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic points out, he feels the Flyers are a perfect fit for this trade because of their need on the right-side of their defense and their cupboard full of young forwards who the Blue Jackets could easily find room for.
If the Flyers are able to acquire Jones, it's going to cost a premium as 26-year-old stud defenseman do not come available very often. It's likely the team would have to part with a combination of either Nolan Patrick, Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee and Travis Konecny. There's going to be a lot of moving parts here but expect to see some of these names involved.
If the Blue Jackets give the Flyers permission to talk contract extension with Jones, the price is going to go up even more so a top pick or prospect could be added, and perhaps defenseman Phillipe Myers as he's been a target of the Blue Jackets before.
Seth Jones on the move this summer, you can bank on that. Makes you wonder if the city of Brotherly love and the land of the cheesesteak is where he will end up.
