Rumor: Two Forwards Finished With Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes and forwards Jordan Martinook and Warren Foegele have had their differences and apparently enough is enough as Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports there's mutual interest to find the players a change of scenery this offseason.

Looks like there will be some churn among Carolina’s depth forwards. According to a Facebook post, Jordan Martinook’s family thinks he’s going to the open market, and there are Warren Foegele trade talks. Both player and team appear to want a change.

The 25-year-old Foegele is a restricted free-agent and his next contract is likely to be a small increase to his $2.15 million he received this season. He managed to score 10 goals and added 10 assists in 53 games, and chipped in with two points in 10 playoff games. The 'Canes were expecting more production out of Foegele and perhaps their disappointment has led them to this point of moving on.

As for Martinook, he's a unrestricted free agent and is free to walk. The 28-year-old recorded four goals and 13 points in 44 games this season and plays a solid checking role which a lot of teams could use. He made $2 million last season and his next contract will come in at just about the same annually. Last season Martinook had 90 hits in 44 games and once finished a season with 199 hits. He'll be hoping a couple of teams need a third-line winger so he can drive up his price a little this summer. Keep an eye on the Hurricanes, they are going to look a lot different next season.
