Tampa Bay Lightning Without Key Forward For Game 2 Of Stanley Cup Final

The Tampa Bay Lightning will be without one of their top forwards for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight. It has been confirmed by Lightning coach Jon Cooper that Alex Killorn is out of the lineup with a lower body injury. He has been deemed as day-to-day, so there is hope that the veteran will be able to play again this series. However, his absence tonight will be noticeable, as he has been one of the Lightning's most complete players all postseason.

In 19 playoff games, Killorn has been nothing short of spectacular offensively, as he has eight goals and 17 points. He is providing far more than the Lightning would have ever expected, so he will certainly be missed.

It has yet to be announced who will be substituting in for Killorn at this juncture. The most probable forward would 24-year-old winger, Mathieu Joseph. However, he may come with some rust, as he has not played for over a month. His last appearance this postseason was in the first round against the Florida Panthers.

The Lightning could also insert Luke Schenn into the lineup, as they are not afraid to play seven defensemen and 11 forwards. This could be a good move, as it has worked in the past and would allow the backend to rest a bit more.

Regardless of what the Lightning decide to do with their lineup, they will miss Killorn tonight. It is difficult to replace a player who not only produces well, but also provides great leadership. We will see how the Lightning respond and if they can take a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Canadiens.
