Trade Idea: Blues Tarasenko Accepts Deal to New York Rangers

Vladimir Tarasenko is expected to be traded this offseason as the St Louis Blues are giving their roster quite the facelift this offseason. While Tarasenko holds a full no-trade clause, he's provided the team with a list of teams he's willing to approve a deal. One team that likely made the list...the New York Rangers.

Tarasenko on the Rangers makes a ton of sense. It gives New York a scary top line when you can pair Artemi Panarin and Tarasenko on the wings, and the Russian duo, would likely love to play together. The Rangers have a ton of young assets to entice the Blues, and the cap space to make the money work as Tarasenko is making $7 million these next two seasons, meanwhile the Rangers currently have almost $24 million in cap space.

The hold up in this deal would likely be the Blues intentions. If they want more of a 'futures' package in return of their one-time superstar sniper, then the Rangers are the perfect match. The team has the likes of Kaapo Kakko and Vitali Kravtsov to offer. But if the Blues are looking for a hockey deal where they want proven talent that's able to step into their top-line tomorrow, it's going to be a harder sell.

Keep an eye on the Blues as they will be one of the busiest teams in the league this season and it's already begun with exploring a trade for Tarasenko.
