Trade Rumor: Philadelphia Flyers Shopping Veteran Forward
The Philadelphia Flyers are in for some sweeping changes this offseason as general manager Chuck Fletcher has made it his mandate to upgrade his roster and this may include trading out some familiar names. According to multiple sources, the Flyers are looking to trade Jakub Voracek.
The Flyers are very eager to improve as they were not happy with how things shaped up this season. Voracek has some value on the trade market, however, there's a chance the Flyers will have to retain some of his $8.25 million per season for the next three years.
As Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff mentions, perhaps the Seattle Kraken should be the target here and what if the Flyers added a sweeten to the deal to get Voracek's expensive contract off their books. He's actually owed less cash on the back end of his deal, so that could also factor in to any deal.
Last season the 31-year-old scored nine times and finished the year with 43 points in 53 games and has shown he's capable of reaching 80 points in his career. With the right opportunity and ice-time, Voracek could get back to this type of production as he enters the back nine of his career.
If the Kraken don't end up making a deal with the Flyers, look for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings to be making offers.
