Trade Rumor: St Louis Blues to Make Blockbuster Deal
According to Jeremy Rutherford of the Athletic, the St Louis Blues are expected to be listening to some trade offers this offseason on forward Vladimir Tarasenko.
The 29-year-old has two seasons left on his current contract, that sees him making $7.5 million per season. Tarasenko holds a no-trade clause and will certainly have some power in the decision making of this process. Teams he's expected to be interested in playing for include the Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals and Los Angeles Kings.
Last season Tarasenko managed to appear in 24 games and recorded 14 points. His production and health have declined over the years as he's already had three shoulder surgeries. While he's rarely a point a game player, his 51 points in 78 playoff games, including a Stanley Cup win in 2018-19 will be appealing to other teams.
The Blues are expected to be one of the busier teams in the league this offseason as general manager Doug Armstrong admitted he's looking to make some adjustments to his current roster. Freeing up some big money on an often injured player is certainly a step in the right direction. The Blues are also listening to offers for up-and-coming restricted free-agent defenseman Vince Dunn, so perhaps whoever acquires Dunn may ended up with Tarasenko as well.
