Video: Bruins' Krejci Slashes Islanders' Barzal Right In The Groin
The Stanley Cup Playoffs are a game of inches and during Game 4 between the Boston Bruins and New York Islanders, Mat Barzal was battling for every single one. Bruins forward David Krejci ended up taking exception to Barzal's compete level and decided to slash him right in the nuts.
The play happened just over half way through the second period when Barzal and Krejci were dueling in the corner, and Barzal ended up delivering a few cross-checks that the Bruins forward wanted no part of. Next thing you know, Krejci clips Barzal below the belt and gets initially called for a 5-minute major for spearing. After video review the penalty was changed to a two-minute slash.
The Islanders didn't end up scoring on the power-play. however Barzal ended up coming out flying in the third period and scored the game-winner. Here's what he had to deal with earlier in the game:
