Video: Canadiens Jake Evans Stretchered Off After Being Laid Out By Mark Scheifele
A brutal scene Wednesday in Winnipeg as Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans was stretchered off in the third period of Game 1 after being laid out by Jets forward Mark Scheifele.
The play happened in the dying seconds as Evans was about to score an empty net goal. Scheifele certainly looked to target the hit well in advance and ensured to finish it strong, skating back from the neutral zone. This isn't something the Jets forward is known for as he has one of the best reputations out there. However this hit was vicious, and a suspension could be coming before Game 2.
As for the Canadiens, they will take the win but expect them to look to make a major push in Game 2. Carey Price looks unbeatable again and their depth is starting to poke its head out. They're going to need to rely on it even more with Evans out of the lineup after this hit:

Another angle:No reason for Scheifele to throw this hit like that on Evans. Absolute Trash
