Video: Hurricanes Dougie Hamilton Calls Out Tampa Bay Lightning
Sounds like Dougie Hamilton of the Carolina Hurricanes is a tough bitter about being eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs and it has a lot to do with who he lost too. Hamilton was quick to point out the Tampa Bay Lightning are $18 million over the salary cap and he's not really thrilled about it.
Hamilton met with the media after being eliminated and had this to say about facing the Lightning:
It's hard to say. We're definitely close. We had a great season. We lost to a team that's $18 million over the cap, or whatever they are. I don't have a problem with it, you just realize how good that team was.
The Lighting were able to legally circumvent the cap during the regular season as they kept Nikita Kucherov on LTIR to save themselves his salary on their cap and allowed for the team to use the $9.5 million in other places. There is no salary cap in the playoffs, and the Lightning took advantage of it. Needless to say Kucherov picked up right where he left off last playoffs, he leads the league with 18 points in 11 games.
Does Hamilton have a point to be pissed? Let us know in the comments.
