Video: Isles' Barzal Scores & Crashes Into The Net in Game 1 vs Lightning
The New York Islanders have struck first as they won Game 1 of their series against the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1. Mathew Barzal opened the scoring halfway through the second period and ended up not only getting the puck over the line, but his entire body.
The game was filled with huge save after huge save and finally Barzal managed to take a feed from Josh Bailey and open the scoring.
One of the craziest stats out there is the fact teams taking a 1-0 lead in conference finals/semifinals have an all-time series record of 127-55. So it doesn't look like history is on the side of the Lightning but only time will tell if the expensive hockey club can get the job done.
For now, enjoy Barzal's beauty as Game 1 goes to the Islanders:
