Video: Lightning Put 8 Goals on Islanders to Take Series 3-2 Lead
The New York Islanders didn't know what hit them on Monday night as the Tampa Bay Lightning came out flying in Game 5. Led by Steven Stamkos, who had three points and Andrei Vasilevskiy's fourth career playoff shut out, it was an 8-0 drumming.
This was expected to be a 'let-down' game for the Islanders after some late game magic in Game 4. But 8-0 nobody saw coming. Tampa now improves to an impressive 13-0 following a postseason loss since the beginning of last season's Stanley Cup Playoffs.
While Stamkos got things started 45 seconds into Game 5, Alex Killorn also finished with two goals and Brayden Point scored his 13th of the playoffs. Point has now scored a goal in eight straight games, the second longest stretch in NHL history.
