Video: Mathew Barzal Kicked Out for Nasty Cross-Check to the Face of Jan Rutta

New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal let his emotions get the best of him as he was kicked out of Game 5 on Monday night after cross-checking Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Jan Rutta in the face.

The play happened as the second period ended and you could tell Barzal was looking for trouble. He followed Rutta out of the zone and wanted to scrap by the looks of it. A couple of slashes later and a cross-check to the mind.

Barzal is likely to hear from the NHL department of player's safety on Tuesday and his status for Game 6 is in serious jeopardy. Here's why:
