Zach Hyman's Agent Denying Rumors
The Toronto Maple Leafs have a major decision to make when it comes to the future of Zach Hyman. The workhorse forward is an unrestricted free-agent and is due for a big raise from his $2.25 million annual salary. The rumors have been flying all over the place about trades and contract offers surrounding the Leafs, and Hyman's agent has been quick to quiet the fact the team has not offered his client $5 million per season.

Many believe it's inevitable that Hyman will be returning to the Maple Leafs as the Toronto native is setting himself up to play with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner for the foreseeable future. The trio provides one of the best lines in hockey and Hyman is the heartbeat that keeps their energy up. The Leafs are cap crunched and will need to get creative to make the money work, but it always seems like Kyle Dubas and company find a way.
The soon to be 29-year-old is coming off a season where he scored 33 points in 43 games, and added one goal in the seven game series against the Montreal Canadiens. A lot of the spotlight was on Matthews and Marner, however Hyman's performance could have admittedly been better.
Look for Hyman to sign a five-year deal in Toronto, around the $5 million per season as being rumored. The Maple Leafs may have to move someone to get comfortably under the salary cap. Signing Hyman long term could mean the end of Frederik Andersen in Toronto. Interesting times for Leafs Nation as it's been an emotional few weeks that doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Stay tuned, should be an entertaining offseason in Toronto.
