2 Potential Landing Spots For Free Agent Mikael Granlund

Mikael Granlund is an interesting player set to hit the open market. Ever since being traded from the Wild to the Predators, his offensive production has fallen off rather noticeably. He still has been a good player, but has not come close to reaching his career-high 69 points. One has to wonder if he can turn it around on a new team, though. He also has the ability to play both center and left wing, so that is another alluring aspect of his game.

Perhaps these two teams could help the 29-year-old find his old offensive rhythm. If not, he still would be a good top-six forward to add, regardless.

Chicago Blackhawks: The Blackhawks should be looking at Granlund as a potential addition for their top-six. He can be slotted nicely on their second-line and power play. They also are on the verge of trading Duncan Keith, so they will have a bit more cap space to make a potential signing. He also should come at a price that is very affordable. It seems like the perfect low-risk, high-reward type of deal that the Blackhawks need.

Columbus Blue Jackets: The Columbus Blue Jackets have a busy off-season ahead of them. They are in a rough position, though. They want to become competitive again, but have to trade Seth Jones because he wants to test the market next off-season. Bringing in a forward like Granlund could help them improve a bit, as they are especially weak down the middle. They would likely need to trade for Jack Eichel as well to make a significant difference, though. However, Granlund would be a step in the right direction. He also would have more than enough chances to succeed there.
