2 Potential Landing Spots For Trade Target Reilly Smith

With the Vegas Golden Knights having very little cap space, it makes sense that there are rumors about them potentially trading Reilly Smith. The Golden Knights have a lot of depth on the wings, but need to improve at center. Smith has a $5 million cap hit and will be an unrestricted free agent after this season. Yet, there should be some teams who are willing to add him to their top-six.

These two teams seem like they could be interesting fits for the 30-year-old winger.

New Jersey Devils: The New Jersey Devils have two solid young centers in Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes. However, they could benefit from adding Smith to the team. He could slot nicely in their top-six and help those two centers out nicely. Although the Devils are not expected to be contenders this season, they have a lot of cap space and could use a veteran to help mentor their young guys.

Carolina Hurricanes: The Hurricanes are prepared to lose key wingers this off-season in Jordan Martinook and Warren Foegele. Smith could be a great player to help fix this, as it would give them another top-six winger. The Hurricanes also are in win-now mode, so they should be open to adding a player like Smith. After re-signing RFA Andrei Svechnikov, they should still have a lot of cap space left, too.
