2 Teams Who Can Help Nolan Patrick Take That Next Step
When the Philadelphia Flyers drafted Nolan Patrick 2nd overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, they thought they were getting a future star. Yet, after just four years with the organization, Patrick already wants out and has not been as advertised.
His first two seasons showed promise, but the last two were hectic. He unfortunately missed the entirety of the 2019-2020 season due to a migraine disorder. He did manage to come back this season, but struggled significantly. In 52 games, he only had 4 goals and 9 points, while also being a -30. This likely was due to missing an entire year of action.
It is understandable that he wants a change of scenery after all that has happened, though. These two teams should consider trading for the youngster.
Anaheim Ducks: The Anaheim Ducks could be a great place for Patrick to revive his career. They are a rebuilding team who are currently looking to get younger. He would have the chance to develop with players like Trevor Zegras and Jamie Drysdale, who seem to be a part of their future core. The Ducks also are not expected to compete for a playoff spot, so Patrick would have way less pressure to succeed there. That would allow him to simply enjoy the game a bit more. With Rickard Rakell on the block, perhaps Patrick could go the other way in a deal.
Vegas Golden Knights: Although the Vegas Golden Knights are in an entirely different position than the Ducks, Patrick could have a real chance to succeed there, too. The Golden Knights are weak at the center position, so with steady improvement, Patrick could land himself in their top-six. He would have the chance to play with an array of talented wingers, too. All of this could help him find his offensive game again.
