2 Teams Who May Be Willing To Give Tony DeAngelo A Chance

Once the Stanley Cup Final reaches its conclusion, the New York Rangers will officially buy out Tony DeAngelo. This is a long time coming, as the team refused to play him after an altercation with teammates. DeAngelo also is known for having a controversial past, so there will be teams who are a bit worried about signing him.

However, there is no denying that DeAngelo is a very good hockey player. His best season came in 2019-2020 with the Rangers, as he recorded 53 points in 68 games. This shows DeAngelo is capable of being a true gamechanger when he isn't causing drama in the locker room. He can quarterback the power play with his strong offensive skills, which always comes in handy.

Thus, there is a real chance an NHL team will give him a shot next season. These two may be the most likely.

Montreal Canadiens: The Montreal Canadiens already expressed interest in DeAngelo earlier this season. Even though the Canadiens are in the Stanley Cup Final, they could use a player like him to make the right side of their defense even stronger. Given the fact that Montreal tried to get him from the Rangers after all the drama that happened, it is established that they are already willing to give DeAngelo a chance.

New Jersey Devils: It would be fitting to see DeAngelo join the New Jersey Devils. They are big rivals of the Rangers, and he clearly is no longer a fan of his soon-to-be former franchise. He also spent his childhood in Jersey, so that could intrigue both parties. Although DeAngelo will likely not be getting a big contract as a free agent, the Devils could add a little bit more with their offer. They have a lot of cap space and could use a top-four defenseman right now.
