2 Teams Who Should Trade For Alexander Kerfoot

With Alexander Kerfoot likely being the player the Maple Leafs will lose in the Expansion Draft, they may look to trade him beforehand. He has been added to Frank Seravalli's trade list because of this fact. He would bring in a decent return, as he is a very serviceable third-line center. In 56 games this regular season, he scored eight goals and recorded 23 points. Yet, during his time in Colorado, he hit the 40-point plateau each season, so the potential is there that he can do it again. With more playing time on a new team, one could argue that it's rather probable. His personal success this postseason displayed that perfectly.

Here are two teams who should consider trading for the 26-year-old center if he's officially made available.

New Jersey Devils: Could Kerfoot go back to where his NHL career was supposed to start? The Devils drafted Kerfoot with the 150th overall pick of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, but he elected not to sign because of their center depth at the time. Yet, the Devils now are in need of a strong third-line center and Kerfoot could be the perfect addition. He would also have plenty of chances on their power play, too.

Calgary Flames: The Flames need to add center depth if this wish to make it back into the postseason. Kerfoot is an immediate upgrade over pending UFA Derek Ryan, as he can produce better offensive totals and is also younger. He also would be a welcomed addition to their penalty kill, too. His $3.5 million cap hit is also highly manageable for them.
