3 Moves The Anaheim Ducks Need To Make This Off-Season

The Anaheim Ducks had the second worst record in the NHL this season behind the Sabres. Therefore, it is easy to see that they are in rebuilding mode. That makes them an intriguing team to watch this off-season, as they could look to trade away some of their older players. The Ducks are starting to form a fantastic prospect pool, so the future is bright. However, it is clear that they still have a lot of work to do.

These are three moves they should look to make this off-season.

Trade Rickard Rakell: Rickard Rakell's name has come up in trade rumors, and it makes a lot of sense. The 28-year-old winger has one year left on his contract and will likely want to test the free agent market. With the Ducks being so far away from contention, they should look to trade him this off-season while his value is still fairly high. They could bring in a strong prospect for him at least.

Trade Josh Manson: Josh Manson is another player with an expiring contract on the Ducks. With him being a top-four, right-handed defenseman, they would be able to get a lot back for him. Manson plays the game very physically, which would come in handy for teams in the postseason. With all of this said, it is better to trade him now than losing him for nothing next summer.

Sign A Backup Goalie: With Ryan Miller retiring, the Ducks will need to sign a backup goalie this off-season. John Gibson has struggled these last two seasons, and it is fair to assume that fatigue was a major factor behind this. They need to bring in a backup who can play a bit more than Miller, as it could be beneficial to Gibson. There are an array of solid goalies available this summer, such as Jonathan Bernier, David Rittich and Jaroslav Halak, who are familiar with being utilized this way.
