3 Players The Seattle Kraken Must Avoid From The Pacific Division
With the Expansion Draft tonight, the Seattle Kraken have an abundance of potential players to choose from. There are many notable players available, such as Carey Price and Vladimir Tarasenko, who they will certainly consider selecting. Yet, there are some players who absolutely should be avoided at all costs.
There are players to stay away from in every single division, so we will be taking a look at each of them before tonight.
In this final installment, we will be discussing the Pacific Division.
Braden Holtby (Vancouver Canucks): Braden Holtby has had a great career, but at this stage, he is no longer an elite goalie. In his first season with the Canucks, the 31-year-old goaltender had an .889 save percentage in 21 games, which is far below the average NHL goaltender. He is a very popular name, but with all the goalies available to Seattle, it would be wise to avoid taking him. He also has a $4.3 million cap hit and one year left on his contract.
Martin Jones (San Jose Sharks): Martin Jones is another goaltender that the Kraken should avoid taking. Although he had some very solid seasons in the past, he has had an .896 save percentage in each of his last three. The 31-year-old has three years left on his contract and it carries a $5.75 million cap hit. That is just too much money for a goalie who is struggling as much as him.
Adam Henrique (Anaheim Ducks): Adam Henrique is still an effective two-way center, but his contract is the primary reason why the Kraken should avoid taking him. The 31-year-old has three years left on his deal and it has a $5.825 million cap hit. He also was surprisingly waived this season by the team, which is something to keep in mind. However, he did end up having a decent campaign from there, as he scored 12 goals and registered 21 points in 45 games. Yet, the Kraken have young defenseman Haydn Fleury they can choose. He would come with far less danger and has a strong chance of getting better, too.
