3 Potential Destinations for Ryan Suter

The Minnesota Wild moved on from veteran defenseman Ryan Suter this week as the team bought out the remaining four years of his contract. Suter now hits the open market on July 28 and will have a long list of teams calling for consideration.

3 Teams Expected to Make Contract Offers for Suter

Boston Bruins: The Bruins are desperate for some help on defense after losing Torey Krug and Zdeno Chara the past couple of seasons to free agency. Suter could head to Bean Town and provide some stability to the team's back-end and while the numbers show he's not the player he used to be, the Bruins won't need that out of him. They'll just need him to play 16-18 solid minutes and be responsible in his own end, while chipping in where he can offensively. Last season production wise Suter was down a touch, with 19 points in 56 games, however the previous season he recorded 48 points in 69 games. A move to the Cup contending Bruins could kick-start a bounce-back season.

Los Angeles Kings: The Kings and Suter have some ties with Jonathan Quick and Dustin Brown and spending the season as Drew Doughty's d-partner may be the perfect landing spot for him. Not to mention the weather of California wouldn't hurt over the brutal winters in Minnesota. The Kings have lots of room both on their depth chart and on their books for Suter, who is likely going to sign a one-year deal around $1-2 million. It certainly could end up being in LA.

Chicago Blackhawks: The storied franchise is one Suter is a big fan of and the team has been in the market in upgrading their defense. The Blackhawks now have lots of money to spend this offseason and could give Suter a little boost on his deal, compared to other teams. With Jonathan Toews coming back and with the team in on the Seth Jones sweepstakes, their roster could look much different come next season. Adding both Suter and Jones would be a hell of an offseason in Chi-Town.
