3 Teams Who Should Sign Veteran Bobby Ryan

Bobby Ryan is no longer a top-six forward at the NHL level, but he still can contribute solid depth scoring. The 34-year-old winger was a nice addition for the rebuilding Detroit Red Wings this season. In 33 games with the team, he scored seven goals and registered 14 points. Those aren't the most glorious of totals, but it does show that he is still an effective player. Teams looking for a veteran who can provide leadership certainly should consider signing Ryan this summer. That is especially the case if he willing to sign another contract for only $1 million.

These three teams could be great fits for him.

Detroit Red Wings: Ryan worked well with the Red Wings this season, so why not bring him back? He was one of their best offensive contributors and could have even led the team in points if he stayed healthy. Filip Hronek held that honor with 26 points, but he played in 56 games. When a team is rebuilding, they need do need a veteran or two to help mentor the young guys. Ryan absolutely fits that description with all he has endured during his career.

Vancouver Canucks: Ryan could be a nice addition for the Vancouver Canucks, especially if he comes at a cheap price. The Canucks are considering buyouts this off-season and their candidates all seem to be in the bottom-six. Ryan could fit pretty nicely on their third-line, especially if he is able to contribute at a similar rate as this season.

San Jose Sharks: The Sharks could look to bring in a guy like Ryan this off-season. They need some help with their depth scoring, which is something Ryan can provide. They also are full of bad contracts, so he be worth signing if he is willing to sign another cheap deal. The right wing position also is particularly weak in San Jose right now.
