3 Underrated Players The Seattle Kraken Should Take From The Pacific Division
The Expansion Draft is officially tomorrow!
When looking at the Pacific Division, the Kraken have some interesting players to pick from. Some popular names available are Jonathan Quick, Mark Giordano and even pending UFA Ryan Getzlaf. There are a few underrated choices that ultimately should be addressed, too. Every competitive team needs to have strong depth, and the Kraken could be able to get some from their soon-to-be division rivals.
Here are three players who could make sense for them to add.
Brendan Lemieux (Los Angeles Kings): Brendan Lemieux is a solid bottom-six option for the Kraken. He is a player who loves the physical side of the game and isn't afraid to drop the gloves. These aspects about his game would certainly help electrify the rest of their lineup. In 49 games this season between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings, he also had four goals and 11 points. Those aren't jaw-dropping totals, but still not too shabby from a fourth-liner. He is set to make $1.55 million next season, which is easily affordable.Haydn Fleury (Anaheim Ducks): Haydn Fleury was drafted 7th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, but never took off with them. However, after being sent to the Ducks at the trade deadline, he showed an increase in production. The 25-year-old defenseman scored two goals and tallied an assist in 12 games. There still may be some upside for this puck-moving defenseman, so there is no harm in Seattle giving him a chance. He also has one year left on his contract and it carries a $1.3 million cap hit.
Jujhar Khaira (Edmonton Oilers): Juhjar Khaira is a versatile forward who can play both center and on the wing. He could be an excellent fit in the bottom-six for the Kraken. He also can be utilized on the penalty kill and is known for playing with a strong edge, too. He is a restricted free agent, so they wouldn't have too much trouble signing him to an extension.
