Anaheim Ducks Expected To Re-Sign Legend

Ryan Getzlaf is expected to come back next season and play for the Anaheim Ducks, according to Elliott Teaford. He should be signing a contract with them before free agency officially begins. There had been rumblings about him potentially retiring, so this is nice to see.

Getzlaf has played his entire 16-year career with the Ducks and is one of their most historical figures ever because of it. In 1,101 career games, he has scored 279 goals and recorded 982 points. He shouldn't have too much trouble hitting the 1,000 point milestone if he remains healthy this upcoming season.

The 36-year-old center may no longer be the first-line center he once was, but he still is an effective NHLer at this stage. Keeping veterans around during a rebuild can come in handy, as they can be fantastic mentors to their team's prospects. Keep in mind, he does have a Stanley Cup on his resume, so he's been through a lot.

Nonetheless, this means another potential pending UFA is now off the board.
