Bruins Veteran Defenseman Retires

Kevan Miller of the Boston Bruins has officially announced his retirement. The 33-year-old spent the entirety of his NHL career with the team. He went on to play 352 games, while scoring 13 goals and registering 71 points in total.

He originally went undrafted, but after a strong collegiate career at the University of Vermont, the Bruins would give him a chance and sign him to a contract back in 2011. From there, he spent four seasons with the Providence Bruins before finally getting called up.

Miller was a true late-bloomer in this league, as he was 26-years-old at the time of his debut. Yet, he became a very steady defenseman for them. His physical play would be the strongest aspect of his game.

However, playing with such an edge led to a plethora of injuries at the end of his career. In fact, he missed the entirety of the 2019-20 season due to multiple knee injuries. However, he managed to come back this season and was still one of their top defensemen. He would end up receiving one last concussion in the postseason and did not return again.

Nonetheless, it was a very solid career for the tough defenseman.
