Calgary Flames Sign Veteran Depth Forward
The Calgary Flames are adding a bit of depth to their forward group, as they signed Trevor Lewis to a one-year, $800,000 contract.
Lewis is a bottom-six forward who is more known for his defensive play. That makes him a potential candidate to join the Flames' penalty kill because of this. In 56 games this season with the Winnipeg Jets, the 34-year-old center had five goals and 10 total points. He also played in all eight of the Jets' postseason games, but failed to record a point.
Not every signing needs to be flashy. Lewis gives the Flames a two-time Stanley Cup winner and also somebody who is used to head coach Daryll Suter's system. This should ultimately benefit them.
