Colorado Avalanche Veteran Winger Retires
Colorado Avalanche winger Matt Calvert has officially retired from the NHL. The veteran forward had concussion problems this season and would only be able to play in 18 total games on the year. In them, he registered three assists.
Over his career, Calvert would cement a spot in the league because of his high degree of tenacity and grit. He was a hard-working bottom-six forward who also was able to contribute fairly well offensively. In 566 career games, the 31-year-old would score 95 goals and 203 career points.Wishing Matt Calvert all the best in retirement!

Thanks for everything you’ve done for this organization ❤️💙#GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/jDos4GlkyL
Originally a fifth-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2008, the winger would go on to play eight seasons with them before joining Colorado. His heart-and-soul type of play would make him a fan favorite of both cities.
Nonetheless, it was a solid career for Calvert. He warrants a lot of respect for it.
