Columbus Blue Jackets Extend Another Young Defenseman
After acquiring defenseman Jake Bean from the Carolina Hurricanes earlier this week, the Columbus Blue Jackets wanted him to be a part of their team for the future. They have now signed him to a three-year, $7 million contract.
Bean is a former first-round pick who just played his first full NHL season with the Hurricanes. In 42 games, he had a goal and recorded 12 total points. On a team like the Blue Jackets, he will have far more chances to play, so it will not be surprising if his production goes up. He is an offensive defenseman, of course, so he should be a part of their power play moving forward.Welcome to Columbus, Jake 👋

Bean is also still only 23-years-old, so he also has plenty of room for improvement. This contract is fairly cheap, so it does real no harm to Columbus. Overall, it's simply a good deal for the kid.
